Each of these\ninternational meetings also represents an enormous undertaking on the part of\nthe program organizing committee. This year\u2019s 16<sup>th<\/sup> ITC in Xi\u2019an,\nChina has been planned over a period of 4 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current devastating\nsituation with the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan in Hubei province has\ntragically caused an escalating number of deaths and illnesses. Our hearts go\nout to the Chinese people. We send all those affected our thoughts and prayers.\nThe trajectory of the current outbreak is uncertain and our knowledge about the\ntransmission and impact of the infection are ever evolving. The current level 3\ntravel advisory (no nonessential travel) has been extended beyond Hubei\nprovince to the whole of China, and the advisory may change. Depending on how\nthe situation further evolves, these developments could seriously affect the\nupcoming ITC in China. Xi\u2019an is about 400 miles northwest of Wuhan. The program\norganizing committee is actively staying abreast of the situation and will\nendeavor to keep members of our sister societies appraised of updated\ninformation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At\nthe current time we advise delaying making travel plans. Deadlines for abstract\nsubmissions and early bird registrations have been extended and announced on\nthe conference website<strong> (<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itc2020.org\"><strong>www.itc2020.org<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong>.\nWe apologize for this uncertainty and we commend the program organizing\ncommittee and the local organizing committee for their flexibility. We\nappreciate how difficult the situation is for the ITC organizers and that the\nsituation may place all their creative and meticulous planning in jeopardy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please join us in extending our thoughts and sympathies to the\nChinese people. We also thank the program organizing committee for their\nongoing efforts at this difficult time. We would like to express our solidarity\nwith the Chinese people and the\nITC organizers.
